Evening Companion
05.29.08 (9:58 am)   [edit]

I accompanied Hobbit Wife to a massage parlor yesterday since she suffered a chronic neck-back pain. She said it was due to sleeping as stiff as a log the night before and could be due to too much Desperate Housewives LOL! As I was sitting at the corner waiting for an hour to pass by quick, I can't help to notice my view of a bunch of messeur ladies who were giving foot massages at the same time chatting with each other intesely about their vacation. Bored and no magazine to reach out to, it was to my best interest AT THAT TIME ONLY to eavedrop into the ladies' conversation. Nothing much interesting though...basically it was about a booked trip at some aka Hilton Head rentals and how they had a blast and bla bla bla bla! I realized I was dozing off when a familiar voice approached me saying

friend: "Hey! What are you doing here?"

hobbit: *in head* What are you doing here???

hobbit: "Oh...I was just waiting for my wife.."

friend: "I'm here to accompany my cousin..."

hobbit: "Oh okay...see you in school tomorrow!"

friend: "Bye!"

It appeared to be one of my colleagues from school. What was she doing there of all places? Oh well...it's a small world afterall.

After a big dinner, we decided to cool our tummies down by stopping by at the car show. Holy cow I spotted Proton cars! Both of us were like "sakai" (stunned) for a moment since hey, we seldom get to see Proton especially the new models being displayed here. Well, you know how Malaysian perceive their own manufactured car. I thought it was okay and well suits the price. Nyway, we have no intention of changing cars...Still unsure about how long we are going to be here.

There goes my evening spent yesterday!

Mos Burger
05.29.08 (9:30 am)   [edit]

Have you tried Mos Burger before? It is a Japenese franchised fast food and I tell you, the burgers are far way better compared to the usual McD or the like serves. I like the softness of the buns and the tenderness of the meat.

I forgot what day we went to Most Burger at Central World and was amazed with the coziness of the place. The green shades, exterior shutters, simple decorations, etc.

Ouch! I was trying to look for some pictures that HW took but too bad, can't seem to find it. Anyway, I managed to find one picture--Mos Burger in Central World Bangkok. If you enjoy burgers, why not try Mos Burger?? There's a hint of Subway too if you're a big fan of it.

Shower Chairs
05.28.08 (12:21 am)   [edit]

Sometimes people just like to invent stuff that are not too necessary. For example shower chairs. I find nothing special on it and could easily be replaced with any other chairs or stools at home.

HW: "Hobbit, which shower chairs would you prefer?"

HH: thinks...

HH: "Nah...this one looks exactly like the stool in our room."

HW: "This one?"

HH: "A mounted shower seat??? Cool!"

HW: "How 'bout this one?"

HH: "Excuse me...I don't see anything special with it..."

HW: "Well, what about this one?"

HH: "What's that odd curved for?"

HW: "It's a hygienic bath bench with back! Okay, okay...soothe yourself because like it or not, this baby chair is most likely for you!"

HH: "A bathtub seat! Now you could sit on it while we play saloon!"

Please PC!
05.28.08 (12:03 am)   [edit]

Just when I needed you most!

My computer PC is acting out again! I have an assignment that is due end of June and all my information are stored in it which I have nowhere to retrieve. I could if desperation kicks in but I prefer to not go there. Having to handle all the used cisco is no fun for one and none except for the one who passed it down to me knows exactly what age my PC came from. So just maybe, I could plead and beg for the laptop? Her connections at school is down remember?? Muhahahahaha!

Stay Away Audi
05.27.08 (11:52 pm)   [edit]

I was in a happy mood while driving home from work today when an Audi slipped right in between my car and another car and zoomed away like a flying rocket! Boy did it turned my mood 360 degrees even though people here like to use car insurance as a way to cool things down...Nowhere close you can bargain me on that! You hit, you pay!

If you're a faithful reader to the Hobbit wife's blog then you'll probably know what our evenings were like so far. Get out of school in a big rush, speed up home, throw vegetable for some broth, rushed out of shower and sit in our cocoon and start episodes after episodes of DH. Yup, I'm hooked too! Forget about the title, it's the continuous suspense that counts! LOL!

Walk in tub

I would really love to have one of this at home! What is it? Well, I'll tell you what this thing is. People, this is a bath tub with a specially made door to it. Talk about easy access everyone. Isn't it cool? Actually for your information, walk in tubs are specially made for ... senior citizens (grandpa/grandma). I don't know why? But, I think probably it has something to do with preventing bathroom accidents from happening. You know that slip, fall & bang your head on the bath tub kind of thing. Yeah, so good news to our grandpa's & grandma's out there. You guys don't have to worry about a thing now. Kudos to the inventors/designers for this brilliant invention!

Complicated week

Hawaiian Host - front view

Hawaiian Host - Back view

Hawaiian Host - inside view

This is the gift that we received from our boss last week. She just got back from Hawaii after being away for a week or so. At first I was going to share it with my kids, but somewhere along the way I got greedy. So, I kept it for myself. Muhaha! Well, probably the other teachers shared it with them anyway. Last week was darn hectic for all of us at Anglo. Yes, when I said all of us, I meant "all" of us (from the maids, drivers, security guard, staff, administration, teachers, etc.) We were visited by the dynamic duo from WASC/CIS. I believe for those of you who are in the field of education, this WASC/CIS thingy is not a foreign subject to you. Anyway, this organization is responsible for accrediting international schools from all over the world. Boy, am I glad that everything is over! I hope we can really prepare ourselves for their next visit 18 months from now. Okay, I better go and surf about gold chains for my next post. Hehe... oops...there you go.

What Happens In Vegas
05.16.08 (12:16 pm)   [edit]

Just watched What Happens in Vegas last night and we Hobbits had a good laugh at the silliness of forced marriage. It's true that marriage is not all about chasing fairy tales but what matters is the give and take. Compromise to be exact. When it seems that nothing else work, it's easy to come up to a harsh decision, pack your luggage and walk out the door but when we sit, discuss and contemplate about it, regardless of what, Love that comes from the heart always wins. Well, I am no expert to talk about marriage yet since I am just an amateur, my thoughts for this post are all based on the movie itself. So if you're interested, why not watch the sneak peak?

Ants Go Away
05.16.08 (10:58 am)   [edit]

Our apartment is shared with many other feeders -- black ants. They treat our house like their very own reno hotels and I am fed up of having to clean after them all the time. I stumbled upon these tips from about dot com and guess will try to feed them some boozers tonight. Lets see where the hangovers will get them to...

Vinegar

Wipe down your countertops, cupboards and any other places where you've spotted ants with a 50-50 mixture of white vinegar and water. Repeat throughout the day to maintain the efficacy.

Why This Works: Two reasons, really: ants hate the smell of vinegar, and it removes the scent trails that they use to get around.

zSB(3,3)

Chalk/ Baby Powder

Draw a line of chalk or sprinkle baby powder across the spot where the ants are entering your home.

Why This Works: Talcum powder, an ingredient in both chalk and baby powder, is a natural ant repellent. Just be careful if you decide to use it: some studies have linked talc to cancer.

Borax

Mix together equal parts Borax and either syrup or jelly. Then, place where the ants will find it.

Why This Works: Once consumed, Borax damages both the ants' digestive systems and their outer skeletons, resulting in death.

Herbs/Spices

Spinkle cinnamon, mint, chili pepper, black pepper, cayenne pepper, cloves or garlic – whichever one you happen to have – in the area where you've seen ants and along your home's foundation. Bay leaves can also be placed in cabinets, drawers and containers to further deter those pesky critters.

Why This Works: Many plants – including the ones listed – give off a strong scent to repel ants and other insects in the wild, and it works just as well in your home.

Coffee Grounds

Sprinkle your used coffee grounds in the garden and around the outside of your house.

Why This Works: Ants are repelled by the scent given off by the grounds; and incidentally, so are cats.

Cucumber/Citrus Peels

Leave the peelings in areas of known ant activity.

Why This Works: Cucumber and citrus peels are toxic to the types of fungi that ants feed on, and therefore avoided by the ants.

Late!!!
05.15.08 (8:45 pm)   [edit]
I was super late for work this morning! I was half way to school when I got an emergency call from my other half. At first I was hesitant to pick up the phone because I'm afraid that some cop who might be hiding somewhere out there might spot me and give me a ticket/fine for talking on the phone while driving (new law in Thailand), so she finally hung up. I called her back when I was in a more secured road (no police). When she answered her phone I asked her what the matter was. She told me that the spices from yesterday's noodles were finally reacting and it caused quite a stir in her tummy. Poor her. So, instead of driving straight to 'my' school, I hurriedly drove off to 'her' school. Thank goodness everything went well after that. I drove her home safely but, after stopping by at Jusco to do some shopping:)

I reached school around 10 and still managed to finish up my third period class session with Taas. *Phew* what a day! Papermate pens were scattered all over the places  at the end of the day but I'm glad that I was able to pull it through! Let's pray that tomorrow will be a good start!

So dull!
05.13.08 (8:03 pm)   [edit]
I don't really feel like blogging at the moment. Don't know why. Life was quite dull for the past two days or so. I just feel like work is no fun for me anymore. I think I lost the motivation to teach my kids. *sigh* I know it's bad. But I really can't help feeling that way. I tried to enjoy my work for the past two days...been putting in all of myself into teaching my kids. To add up all these, I also thought a lot about the desires to pack up and head back home (after completing my MA though) to Sabah. I don't know. Sometimes I ask myself if all of these (job + study) are really worth it. Right now I'm dreaming of sleeping on a hammock chair, sipping ice cold Malta and doing nothing at all! That sounds great right?

I really envy you gacko wacko!

A lesson from Tan Hong Ming
05.08.08 (10:35 pm)   [edit]
I just saw one of the "cutest" commercial sponsored by Petronas but was made by Yasmin Ahmad. The commercial was so simple and spontaneous! But, really effective! The message that is in the commercial tells us that we should become like kids. Small children doesn't have the concept of race! To them everyone is the same! What a very valuable lesson from this simple commercial.
Can't wait to get away from Bangkok again on Sabbath! Nope! We're not going on luxury vacations again OK! Just a one day trip to MC. That's all! Later everyone!

Drug overdose?
05.05.08 (9:34 am)   [edit]
I've been taking a handful of medicines for three times daily for the past three days already! Yet, I don't think that it does anything because I can't really seem to feel or see what these medicines are doing to me. The only proof that are noticeable are the color of my pee and its strange medicinal smell! Ewww! I went to see the doctor last friday and was diagnosed with an acute symptom of pharyngitis. Hey wait a minute! Now that I've mentioned that I think those medicines did play a part in making my throat feel much better. Silly of me to not realized that. Probably after finishing up all my medicines including the indispensable antibiotics, I really need to go for a drug rehab! Lol! Okay guys later!

Seriously! Do I really need all of these to treat a minor case of sore throat?

Reciprocal events of our lives!
05.03.08 (9:02 am)   [edit]

Lately, I have been thinking about how some of the things that occur in our lives seems to repeat itself every now and then. I guess these are some of the reciprocal events of our lives that we simply can't avoid even though we try our very best to not let it happen. I tell you guys life is full of deja vu's. These are just some of the repetitive experience of my life that keeps on repeating its episodes in my so called life!

1. My few months old glasses was shattered to smithereens (just exaggerating) and for that reason, I got myself a pair of brand new glasses at a super affordable price!

2. Experienced another case of throat inflammatory thingy!

What else is waiting for me? Kind of scary sometimes to face the unknown. Don't you think so? Anyway, I'm not going to concentrate on this for now. I think I'm going to have a great Sabbath today! Now, hold on to your horses! I'm not going to let you guys go off without telling you about these fine adjustable beds! Aha...check that link out and read for yourself. Later!
