Happy Days!
07.23.07 (9:54 am)   [edit]
Hello everyone! I just can't find the words to express how happy I am at the moment! For those of you who are not in tuned with what's going on with my life now(hehe), I'm happy to yell it out to y'all that I'm having a 2 weeks break from work! Of course 2 weeks of break doesn't look that satisfying to some of you, but it sure is to me! Right now I'm in MC library enjoying their free wireless connection. I guess I'd probably be hanging around here for the rest of the day because I'm actually waiting for my wife who is at the moment attending her Avondale Intensive MA program for 2 gruelling weeks! tsk! tsk! Pity her! I hope she doesn't drag me into doing her assignments! Yikes! Well guys, keep on popping by my blog because I'll be updating it maybe later?

Taiyou No Uta
07.19.07 (10:14 pm)   [edit]
Finally, I had the time to watch a Japanese movie titled "Taiyou No Uta" which means a song for the sun the previous day after accumulating my hard drive for a while. It was a great movie all in all. Now that's what I call a true Asian movie. Simply great! I know, some will not agree to this, but to me that's what separate Asian movies from western movies. Of course, the pace of the story is quite slow(common for Asian movies). I guess that's how we Asians prefer it to be.

The story itself is great. It's not the typical love story between two individuals. It doesn't end in a fairy tale kind of way where the two lovers lived happily ever after in the end. The ending(spoiler warning) was kind of sad, but in a way it depicts what we would or some of us will really encounter in reality. The main character in this movie, a girl(Kaoru Amane) played by YUI, had a rare disease which prevented herself from living a normal life. She was inflicted with a disease called XP in short, which can be fatal when exposed to the sun. She lived her life strangely by sleeping during day time and only go out at night. This is a disease that cannot be treated by the use of modern medicine or through surgery. In other words it's incurable. This movie also showed how she was attracted to a guy who was in the beginning kind of confused of where to go and what to do with his life. Both characters went through drastic change after going through this brief relationship. The relationship they experienced draws out the goodness in both of them(an improvement in their characteristics in becoming a better person).

From this movie I was able to extract the value of living life to the fullest by enjoying every moments with your loved ones despite of the uncertainties that may befall us in the future. These are just some of my thoughts triggered by this movie. This is a movie not to be missed.

Before I forget, another thing that I like about this movie is where the sun symbolizes two things: bringing out the beauty in life(when the sun rises it warmth us with its sunshine and at the same time it brings life to every living things) on the other hand, it also kills life(if you put yourself in Kaoru's situation, the sun is a killer to her). For Kaoru, the sun doesn't shine life to her, but it takes life out of her. All this musings about the sun really reminds me of the effect of its rays to our skin. Ouch! If you've been in the sun for too long you might want to rejuvenate it. Chicago chemical peel might be the solution for you then.

Shopping Cart Software
07.19.07 (2:29 pm)   [edit]

*Sponsored post

I am seriously thinking of doing an online business nowadays. Due to globalization and the quick spread of information through the net, I am sure that in one or two years time you could almost sit back and order almost everything online without having to get up from your cozy seat.

I once read of a 12 year old boy who has an online website selling guns. Not those harmful killer guns, but paint ball guns. Believe it or not, in one month he managed to earn $100 - $300 dollars that then served as his pocket money. Twelve years old and already earning. How do you like it?

In order to start, I thought maybe I should start researching about how to go about selling online. After browsing E-bay and other sites, I came across shopping cart software. It is ASP web based, hosted store building system for setting up an online business. There is no software to install. All you need is a web browser. As you build and manage your online store, you can pick your own custom design, add custom pages and provide other cool function such as accepting credit card and allows your pages to appear at the top of most popular search engines.

With this shopping cart software, I can save a lot in operational cost. I don't need to pay for street premises rent, pay shop assistants or answer a lot of pre-sales queries. When customers place their orders, it will come automatically into my orders database and process the orders immediately. There are many other benefits such as having the opportunity to promote your business to a global community and much more. If you are interested, go check it out yourself. It's really cool!

Almost done!
07.18.07 (9:15 pm)   [edit]
I just can't believe it, finally no more teaching until the summer school holiday program starts. I'm so relieved. Today was so darn boring! I didn't do much, I just helped with the graduation practice for this coming Saturday at J.W. Marriott hotel. The small kids that are performing are so cute and funny! I can't stop giggling watching them dance. Some of them are just doing their own thing while others are imitating the teachers in front who are dancing with them. Give credits to those dancing teachers! While the graduating K3's were dancing, I noticed that one of my Malay students, Arvind was forcing himself to dance. I overheard Ms.Naiv the homeroom teacher for K3 said to him, "I'm watching you" at the same time imitating Robert DeNiro. I wanted to laugh but I managed to hold it back.

Arvind is one of those students who can't pronounce the letter and the sound of "R" correctly. You'll more likely hear the sound "L" when he tries to pronounce it. He's really a funny chap. Talking about Arvind reminds me of a high school acquaintance of mine. I forgot his name but I can still remember that he couldn't pronounce and make the sound of the letter "R" too! His flat shape nose and his hilarious attitudes really drives me crazy.  He looks just like the people in the rhinoplasty photos . Do you guys think that he'll be interested in re-shaping his nose?

Not pretty enough?
07.18.07 (8:39 pm)   [edit]
I was flipping through my old picture album a while ago and my eyes set upon one particular photo of my best roommate in college and his girlfriend back then. They look very sweet together in that photo. Well, what can I say? This photo really brings back sweet old memories of yesteryear. I wonder how they are doing now? I can still recall how his(best roommate) girlfriend's eyelid look like when she decided to go for a double eye lid appearance. I guess I won't blame her for doing that, to some people appearance really help boost their confidence. If you are that kind of a person then you'll probably need to go to this cosmetic surgery in Houston.

New Engine Oil for Ol' Car.
07.15.07 (8:40 pm)   [edit]
Finally, after 11 months on the road, my car gets to taste fresh tasty oil engine once again! I'm feeling a little bit guilty because actually I've driven way beyond the scribbled limits on the car report tag. You know, the small paper tag tied to the wipers switch? Ok...whatever. According to the tips posted on the various websites about car maintenance, we were supposed to change the engine oil every three months of driving or after 3000 kilometers. But, in my case, I didn't. I hope I didn't damage any internal engine parts of my car. If I did, oops. My bad. Anyway, I spent 1 thousand plus baht on that alone! Yikes! Is that too much? I don't think so. I guess. Because the used cars company/shop (where I originally bought my car ) owner gave me the bill and on it were listed the price of the engine oil, brake oil and service charge. So, I don't think that I was cheated there. Come to think of it, I guess it doesn't really matter if I spent a little bit on the car. It's worth it. Nowadays, I can't imagine how my wife and I would ever get to our desired destinations without wheels. Very handicapped! Speaking about used cars, I stumble upon a very interesting site recently, used cars San Diego . This site makes life easier for those of you who are planning to get a car in that part of the world!

Problematic airport rules!
07.15.07 (3:23 am)   [edit]

Hi folks! I guess I'll be spending five lonely days from friday up to next tuesday. My wife flew to KL to meet up with her parents. I bet that they are going to have a great time there. Without me of course....so sad. My holiday will only start on the 22nd of July. Lucky for her, she doesn't have to pay a single satang for the tickets. They are sponsored. You know what, one thing really pissed me off yesterday evening. She smsed me from the airport telling me that the airport person ell took away her brand new shampoo, threw away the two electric mosquito swatter and durian like sausage thingy. She was not allowed to bring those stuff with her! What the heck? I know this rule serves a purpose, but at the same time it is also a pain in the bottom! Poor love. She had to go through all this. Anyway, I know there are still many pretty nice things that she will experience there in KL. This particular trip was sort of unplanned, but she did manage to prepare herself for it. Hopefully she will take lots and lots of photos while she's there. Later everyone!

Money & Free Stuff
07.05.07 (1:13 pm)   [edit]

Are you interested in money and free stuff? Needless to say, I know you do. Well, too good to be true? To tell you the truth, there are actually websites online where this happens. We call it revenue share.

As you can see, there are several new websites that are trying to grow quickly online. Thus they are attracting new members by sharing their advertising income with their members and they do this directly via Google Adsense. This way, it is assured that members will get their cash. As I mentioned earlier, some site even offer you free stuff such as computer games, iPod, etc.

The truth is I myself is not yet that familiar with this stuff. Perhaps you and I should check this opportunity out! Laughing

Going for a Honeymoon?
07.05.07 (10:10 am)   [edit]

Recently one of our good friends in school had just moved to California in order to be close to her husband-to-be. In a few weeks time she will utter her love vows to him and they are planning to go for a vacation. Before our friend left, she asked for our help to look for good vacation rentals around California that she and her husband could enjoy after the wedding. So my wife and I got on-line and surfed Lake Tahoe vacation rentals website.

To our surprise, the website leads to several good vacation rentals to pick from within California alone. After an hour of surfing, we suggested to get Lake Tahoe vacation rentals. It will be a cool place to go since both the couple enjoy being in the calming sounds of nature and most of all enjoy their honeymoon with this beautiful private vacation getaway. Whether they choose to do some outdoor activities or not, skiing at the Alpine Meadow seems to give a romantic touch to the newly wed!

A place to stay is not a problem at all since it is all listed in the VLBO website when you click on your desired vacation rentals. Our friend preferred Lake Tahoe cabin since it is just a walking distance to the beach. This cabin has a relaxing backyard, a hot tub and a deck that is just right for the couple. I am sure there are many more that they are yet to discover once they get there and I can guarantee that they will write to us about all the beautiful trip once they get back!

So, if you are looking for vacation rentals especially in the US, go to VLBO vacation rentals. You might find yourself a perfect place for your honeymoon!

Walk back through time with ProDai!
07.02.07 (9:32 pm)   [edit]
I'm really draining myself tonight! Four episodes straight non-stop watching Proposal Daisakusen! I've been wanting to watch this since last week. But didn't manage to. However, things are going to change from now on! Just finished downloading all of the episodes last night! Yesss! Watching these four episodes reminds me of the good old memories of the past. All the crushes that I've been in and out of! Yikes! There are way too many to laugh about! Yet, those are the moments where we(you & I) began playing with our feelings. I guess some people(like Iwase Ken) really regretted their actions for not being so bold enough to declare their feelings to the person whom they are interested in! I'm glad that I'm excluded from that group! Anyway, I'm still curious though. What if? Could life be a different story? Hmmm....pretty interesting. Don't you think so?

Want to travel?
07.01.07 (9:09 pm)   [edit]

*sponsored post

My in-laws recently called and asked us to join their vacation. Considering time, I don't think we are even close to being able to enjoy one for now. It's also hard to get cheap offers at this time of the year, so I told my in-laws to just go ahead and enjoy!

Having the thoughts of going for a vacation, led me to surfing sights that could lead me to a trip that fits into my budget if my wife and I plan to travel. So guess what I found? Hotel Reservations website. This user friendly website has been providing travelers great prices on the places you want to stay for both leisure and business travel. They reduce the stress of travelers and businessmen through their expert lodging website and through their certified hotel experts who are available 24/7.

Hotel Reservations offers more than 70,000 properties worldwide - from hotels to Bed & Breakfast, condos to all inclusive resorts. What thrills me is that the site offered me information I needed to know about the place I plan to go and making reservations seems to be very easy. All you need to do is to select or enter your desired city, dates of arrival and departure, and the number of guests. The "search" button is another option to help you find a specific hotel name or place that you want to stay. For more information, you can always click the name of the property or the Info link on the website.

Considering my wife being picky when it comes to room location, I especially liked how they accept special requests from customers. We just need to state our request when we fill in the Reservation form and their hotel staff will do their best to accommodate our request. However, I understand that it is always subject to availability which is fine for us.

Hotel Reservations' pricing or rate is very competitive and what is more they always have great discounts offered on world wide destinations. Most of the participating hotels offer "Special Internet Rates" to their users and thus offer substantial savings. Credit card users are assured that the site uses a secure commerce server and the card types accepted for guarantee or deposit will be listed in the Info section.

Apart from all the reservations you can make, you can also apply for a discount member card. Once you are a member, you are entitle to receive monthly e-mail with their best deals and savings up to 70% off. Whosoever will not be excited with such offer?

I will definitely surf Hotel Reservations again once we are ready to travel. I believe that Hotel Reservations makes it so easy for people to travel not only to limited places but to our desired destinations at a reasonable budget. For that reason, I will not hesitate to take my wife out shopping!

Forgetful
07.01.07 (7:17 pm)   [edit]

Since Baby wanted to go to Sizzler for lunch, I agreed and took her out. So we sat and enjoyed the atmosphere while waiting for our orders to arrive. When the food arrive, she demanded the camera. Having a forgetful mind, I had to walked back to the car to get it for her. Then when I finally handed her the cam, she was ready to snap but dang!!! To her and my disappointment, the SD card was missing! Arghh! Frustrations kicked in, she was chiding non-stop and I was disturbed. You might know of her interest nowadays, taking pictures for her blog...and if anything goes wrong...somebody has to take the blame! Well, what I really want to convey is the concern of being forgetful. Is there any cure??

Some article relate forgetfulness as a sign of getting alzhiemer but is it true? Here are some tips that I found to be helpful.

1. Get in shape. Make sure that you're healthy and fit. It says if you exercise 4 times a week your memory is enhanced up to 20%.

2. Watch a talk-show. Well, this relates to those who have trouble remembering names, faces, etc. Try to remember each guest's names and the sort.

3. Write it down. Putting information in writing also means putting it into memory.

4. Think in rhymes. It gives a structure that help us remember things.

5. Consume beta-carotene.

6. Observe rather than see.

7. Play mental games.

Now lets try to put all these into practice! Wink
